MSIP accelerator showcase unveils the next wave of business innovation

MSIP's fifth accelerator cohort

Twelve innovative young companies have successfully completed Michelin Scotland Innovation Parc’s (MSIP) latest accelerator programme, committed to amplifying sustainable innovation and decarbonisation solutions.

Part funded by Scottish Enterprise and delivered by Skillfluence, the MSIP Accelerator contributed £6.4 million to the national economy in the last three years and has already helped 41 businesses achieve success as a direct result of participating.

Specifically designed to help ambitious young companies that are developing new solutions in sustainable innovation and decarbonisation achieve a step-change in their business, the programme has generated £1.47m in innovation grant funding and leveraged £1.1m in investment and £2m in sales, since its launch in 2021.

This is the fifth successful cohort of the MSIP Accelerator, which concluded today with a showcase event at MSIP’s Innovation Hub, where each business pitched in front of an industry leading panel of judges.

The successful participants are developing a range of future thinking products and services across various industries including sustainable mobility, renewable energy, robotics and manufacturing, sustainable built environment, AI, IoT, data, and procurement.

Two of the current participants – Biome Collective and PEM Technologies, have recently moved into MSIP’s Innovation Labs, joining previous MSIP Accelerator Alumni 4SB, bringing the number of current tenants at the Innovation Parc to 18, and total jobs to 192.

The MSIP Accelerator is one of many initiatives MSIP is undertaking as part of its Innovation Programme, designed to underpin Scotland’s response to the global climate emergency.

The companies that completed the Accelerator include:

  • Sim Energy Technologies: renewable energy generation using kinetic energy.
  • Air Innovation Robotics Ltd: wind energy technology that is modular, scales and performs in low ambient wind speeds.
  • SolarSub Ltd: an innovative passive cooling system tailored for floating solar installations.
  • Friction Flow Measurement Ltd: flow and physical property measurement solutions for challenging applications.
  • Hychor Ltd: a novel electrolyser for the production of hydrogen from seawater.
  • NoisAI: renewable energy generation using sound energy.
  • PEM Technologies Ltd: unlocking clean, affordable hydrogen through novel PEM electrolysers.
  • Aquallite Data Ltd: an AI-powered seafloor data integration software to generate highly accurate, engineering-grade datasets.
  • WHOLUS (a trading name of Keystone Worldwide Limited): creating ESG orientated places and spaces, empowering operational teams to deliver excellence and human centric experiences.
  • Biome Collective: the creation of innovative urban installations & interactive pavement technology that transforms public spaces into dynamic and engaging environments.
  • Oxbow Group Limited/Ecolyst: leading the transformation of financial and environmental management, enabling a seamless transition to sustainable practices.

“The MSIP Accelerator program is all about empowering companies to grow and elevate their products and services. The 41 companies that have participated so far have shown remarkable progress, and I’m confident that the businesses that presented this week will continue that trend, making a significant impact. It’s an incredibly exciting time.”

Alison Gray, Founder and Director of Skillfluence Ltd, said: “Skillfluence is delighted to have delivered this latest cohort of the MSIP Accelerator programme. The companies involved are making a real difference with their approach to sustainability and decarbonisation

“The showcase event is a wonderful opportunity for these companies to demonstrate what they have learned during the programme and to gain real-life experience of pitching their venture to top investors. We were excited to see such high-quality and nuanced pitches from the companies involved.

“We are looking forward to seeing where these companies take their ideas next: their enthusiasm and passion is electric, and these ideas will contribute to shaping and improving Scotland’s environmental future.”

Suzanne Sosna, director energy transition at Scottish Enterprise said: “Following the completion of Cohort 5, we are thrilled with the continued success of the MSIP accelerator.

“With such high calibre participants, we are excited to see how they can support Scotland’s response to the global climate emergency and energy transition.
