Moray fisherman jailed for avoiding £90,000 in tax payments
Alan Hunter, a Moray fisherman who underdeclared nearly half a million pounds over five years and did not pay any tax, was jailed for 15 months yesterday.
Mr Hunter appeared for sentence at Inverness Sheriff Court, after previously admitting defrauding HMRC of £90,000 in revenue between 2012 and 2017.
He was originally charged with having evaded paying £124,000 from 2010 after failing to submit self-assessments.
