Meston Reid & Co accountants celebrate exam success
Three young accountants with Aberdeen-based chartered accountancy firm Meston Reid & Co are celebrating a series of exam successes.
Abbie Watson, who joined the chartered accountancy practice in August 2019, became the latest member of staff to bolster her qualifications when she passed two middle-stage ICAS exams in financial reporting and tax.
Abbie, who works in the audit and accounts department, is now moving on to study for her assurance & business systems and advanced finance exams. Her achievement follows those of colleagues Shannon Adamson and Nicole Third, who both passed their final-stage ICAS exams.
Now that Shannon and Nicole are exam-qualified chartered accountants and have completed their three-year training contracts with Meston Reid & Co, they will continue to work directly with clients and gain further experience.
Mark Brown, audit, accounts and business assurance partner at Meston Reid & Co, said: “We’ve always made it a priority to invest in the future of our profession and we’re delighted with the accomplishments of Abbie, Shannon and Nicole.
“We are confident that they – and other talented young people across our practice – will be assets to Meston Reid & Co in the years to come. Such investment is a continuous process, however, and we will maintain our support for budding accountancy professionals in a diverse range of ways.”
Meston Reid & Co’s activities in this area include taking part in the Robert Gordon University student placement programme. The scheme has led to numerous students subsequently joining the firm as new recruits, while graduates from other universities have also been taken on in recent years.
The chartered accountancy practice is also a participant in an innovative Graduate Apprenticeship Scheme which sees students work for the practice as well as attending university to study accountancy and finance.
