MBM Commercial assists Highland Forestry buy-out
MBM Commercial’s corporate, tax and employment teams recently assisted the senior management team of Highfield Forestry to buy out the business on the retirement of Iain Peddie, who was the managing director at the company for over 20 years.
Highfield Forestry is a woodland management company based in Perth which provides a nationwide full range of forestry management services to farms and estates as well as private landowners, companies, and partnerships. The company was established in 1981 and has offices in Perth and Biggar.
The firm has grown over the years and now manages over 12,000 hectares of woodland throughout the United Kingdom. It provides services ranging from woodland and carbon code certifications to woodland creation and forestry contracting. New owners James Ramsay and Fred Drion have over 30 years of combined forestry expertise.
James Ramsay, senior acquisitions and planning manager, said: “The MBM team provided hands-on, round the clock support. Alex was regularly on hand until late in order to keep negotiations moving along and on Christmas Eve to make sure all the lose ends were tied up. He and the team went above and beyond to navigate complex company and tax matters to get everything completed before the holiday.”
Alexander Lamley, director in MBM’s Corporate team, added: “James and the team were a delight to work with from start to finish. Celebrating with some virtual drinks under our real Christmas trees was a fitting close.”
