Private equity firm Maven Capital Partners has strengthened its presence in Scotland with the appointment of three new investment professionals.

Victoria McLaren and Craig McGill join as investment managers where they’ll lead on deal origination and execution, with a focus on Scottish deals and opportunities for the IFS fund. James Warner also joins as investment associate to support the growing deal team as they continue to back ambitious and entrepreneurial companies across Scotland.

Ms McLaren is a qualified corporate lawyer, specialising in M&A, private equity, venture capital and early-stage investment work. Her deal experience spans a wide variety of industry sectors and involved cross-border transactions, particularly in the technology, life-science and software sectors.

Mr McGill is a qualified Chartered Accountant with corporate finance experience across a number of sectors and transactions, including building products, haulage & logistics, specialist engineering, aquaculture, whisky and sport tech.

Mr Warner joined Maven from EY and is a qualified Chartered Accountant with broad experience in external audit, business assurance, valuations, accounting, tax compliance, reporting and analysis.

Maven has built a strong team in Scotland, with a national office network spanning Aberdeen, Edinburgh and Glasgow. Last year Maven was appointed as one of the managers of the new £150 million Investment Fund for Scotland, an initial £50m equity fund.

IFS Maven Equity Finance has already made a number of investments into local businesses including: 3D printed micro-tumour specialist Carcinotech, MedTech company, Calcivis and Glasgow University spinout, Nami Surgical, underscoring Maven’s commitment to nurturing innovative businesses in the Scottish regions and driving their growth to realise their full potential.

Alan Robertson, partner at Maven, said: “Last year was transformational for Maven in Scotland with IFS creating exciting opportunities for businesses looking for funding to fuel their growth plans.

“The team expansion marks another milestone in Maven’s track record of identifying and developing high-potential businesses, demonstrating the strength of our investment approach and the opportunity in the regional private equity sector to drive innovation and growth.

“We’re delighted to welcome Victoria, Craig and James to the team as we ramp-up IFS support for local companies.”
