Angela Willows

Food ingredients firm Macphie Ltd has appointed Angela Willows as chief financial officer (CFO).

Ms Willows, who previously held global leadership roles at Nestlé in Switzerland and Canada, brings more than two decades of experience in finance and business strategy.

She is now overseeing financial operations at Macphie, which is renowned for its innovative product range, which includes sauces, bakery items, ice cream inclusions, plant-based and gluten-free ingredients.

With more than 250 employees and revenues exceeding £70 million, the Aberdeenshire-based family business has established itself as a key player in the food ingredients industry in the UK, with exports growing rapidly in recent years.

Ms Willows’ expertise in financial planning, digital transformation, and strategic growth will be critical as the company looks to further expand its footprint in key international markets, including the Middle East.

Originally from Alberta, Canada, she started working for Nestle in Toronto, following three years with Coca-Cola Bottling. Over 20 years she performed various financial leadership roles between Canada and the firm’s Swiss headquarters.

Ms Willows said: “I’m honoured to be joining Macphie at such an exciting time in its growth journey.

“I come from a family of entrepreneurs – and that is where my true passion lies, using finance as a strategic tool for business growth and transformation. I’m eager to apply my experience to help Macphie realise its ambitious growth plans.”

Macphie, originally founded in 1928 in Glasgow before relocating to Glenbervie, near Stonehaven, in 1973, has grown its reputation internationally for high-quality ingredients and solutions that make life easier for chefs and bakers.

The recent appointment adds to a new-look senior leadership team, including high-profile hires like Paul McGovern as head of HR and Donald MacDonald as operations director.

Andy Stapley, CEO at Macphie, said: “Angela brings a wealth of experience and skills that are perfectly aligned with our growth strategy.

“Having led significant financial and digital transformations at Nestlé, her appointment will be a major asset as we continue to grow globally and strengthen our leadership team. Angela’s vision and passion for finance will complement our ambitious plans, and we’re delighted to have her on board.”

As a B Corp certified company, Macphie remains committed to balancing profit with purpose, ensuring sustainable growth that benefits both people and the planet.

Ms Willows added: “I’m excited to work with a team that shares my passion for making a positive impact.

“Macphie was among the first businesses in the UK to hold B Corp status – and this ethos was a big factor for me.”

Ms Willows’ journey to Macphie has been one of global experience and personal growth, with her relocating to Scotland in 2022.

She brings not only a wealth of business experience but also a rich personal story. While balancing a high-powered career, the mother-of-four is also a passionate artist, exhibiting in local galleries, including the Paisley Big Art Show, and currently has a window display at the Clyde Shopping Centre.

Reflecting on her move to Scotland, Ms Willows said: “Compared with other countries I love the balance of work and life here, and Macphie’s values align with what I’ve been looking for both professionally and personally.

“It’s a fantastic opportunity to contribute to a business that not only drives innovation but also genuinely cares about its people and the environment.”
