Lawyer takes over IoD Chair role for Glasgow and the west

David Hoey, a partner and accredited employment law specialist with bto solicitors, has been appointed as the Chairman of the Institute of Directors for Glasgow and the West of Scotland.

He succeeds Laura Gordon, who has been Chair for the past four years, and under whose stewardship the IoD in the West has grown by over 20 per cent.

In taking on the role, Mr Hoey will work with the network of IoD members in Glasgow and committee members to support the “great potential for growth” in Glasgow’s business community.

He said: “Glasgow and the West of Scotland has a very well established and eclectic business sector, with well-known companies such as Amazon and Rolls Royce active within the region, alongside significant financial services, shipbuilding, defense, leisure and hospitality markets. I am very pleased to take the lead to help facilitate continuous growth and membership value for Glasgow and west of Scotland’s business community.”

An IoD statement said Mr Hoey’s main focus will be on “innovation and business success working with central and local government, and members, to ensure that business leaders are equipped to meet the challenges presented by continuous growth and innovation”.
