KPMG Scotland strengthens team with trio of senior appointments

Andy Masters, KPMG’s head of savings and wealth, has been promoted to partner.

Mr Masters leads KPMG’s thinking on the future of long term savings and wealth in the UK, with a particular focus right now on how financial services organisations transform to be customer centric and make the most of digital solutions to do this.

He joined KPMG in 2010, and he brings 20+ years of consulting experience across banking, insurance and investment management.

In a major move for the firm to support its growing cyber security business, George Scott, who leads a team of information protection and business resilience specialists, has been promoted to director.

Mr Scott joined the firm’s Edinburgh office in 2011 after working as head of information security at Tesco Bank. Prior to that he held a number of technology audit and information security roles, mostly in financial services.

Ross Stupart, a tax specialist who has worked with listed and privately owned domestic and multi-national businesses throughout his professional advisory career, has been promoted to tax director in Enterprise.

This enhanced role includes responsibility for liaising with growing businesses across the central belt as part of the firm’s Enterprise offering.

Most recently Mr Stupart was instrumental in creating a three-year alliance between KPMG, Entrepreneurial Spark and RBS to deliver business advice and support to thousands of entrepreneurs across Edinburgh, Glasgow and Ayrshire.

Alistair McAlinden, meanwhile, who joined KPMG in Glasgow as an audit trainee in 2001 and has been with the restructuring team for the last decade, has moved to the Edinburgh office following a promotion to director.

Working alongside Blair Nimmo, head of restructuring for KPMG in Scotland, he will act as engagement leader on both formal insolvency cases and advisory projects, including independent business reviews, pension scheme advisory work and members’ voluntary liquidation.
