Ms Duncan is the Scotland winner of the F&C Investment Trust Prize which aims to showcase students’ financial knowledge by offering inventive ways to close the UK’s financial knowledge gap.

The winner of the prize receives a package which includes a laptop computer, £5,000 for their faculty to invest in research, and personal career mentoring which includes networking opportunities, guidance, mock interview training and CV building tips.

The winner of the prize also receives a trophy and special recognition on graduation day as well as at the annual City of Glasgow College Student Excellence & Achievement Awards. They also receive a prize plaque on the college walls.

Ms Duncan won the award in a public vote going up against other finalists from the college and UK universities.

The F&C Investment Trust Prize was launched in 2018 in a partnership between F&C Investment Trust and City of Glasgow College.

The prize is open to all students who attend the college, not just those studying business and finance.

Paul Little, principal of City of Glasgow College, said: “Our congratulations go to Kirstie who is a very deserving winner. Our college and her faculty and friends are very proud of her achievement. We are also very proud to be the only college taking part in the competition alongside UK universities. I am delighted the F&C Investment Trust Prize continues to engage students and motivate them to create innovative work.”

Kirstie Ann Duncan added: “This is an incredible award to win and I am very thankful to the City of Glasgow College for their support and to the F&C Investment Trust for creating this opportunity to explore our financial future.

“Throughout this competition, I learned there are many things we can do to secure a financial future for a younger generation and I hope people can watch my video and come away from it feeling more positive and thinking of different things they can do to help.”
