Civil engineering firm Kilmac has reported a nearly 30% rise in profit to a record £1.7 million in the year to September 2023.

The Dundee-based business saw turnover increase to a record £26.57m, up from £25.65m in the previous year.

As a result of the good performance, the employee-owned company is paying bonuses totalling £500,000 to staff, according to The Courier.

Director Athole McDonald said Kilmac’s directors “consider that the company has performed well during the year and are pleased with the overall trading results achieved in a challenging economy”.

He added: “The construction industry and general business environment in which the company operates continues to be highly competitive.

“The directors are aware that the future performance of the company will be directly affected by circumstances prevailing in the UK economy, but believe that the good flow of future work and constant assessment and review of costs, will ensure future prosperity of the business.”

Kilmac undertakes civil engineering projects and acts as a groundworks contractor for commercial and social infrastructure and housing projects throughout Scotland.
