He will join the club’s board of directors ahead of its 150th anniversary year, the club announced in a short statement on Saturday.

A graduate of Strathclyde University, Mr Barclay began his career in accountancy at EY in 1999. He later served as group accountant at Arnold Clark, a corporate finance manager at PwC, and finance director at Tennent Caledonian Breweries.

He latterly held the post of group finance director at Glasgow-based TBR Global Chauffeuring, a ground transportation company operating in 3,000 cities around the world.
