Scottish accountancy firm Henderson Loggie has appointed Kenneth McEwen to lead the firm’s specialist property and construction sector group.

Mr McEwen takes up the newly-created role to promote and build upon the considerable property expertise that exists across Henderson Loggie’s offices in Glasgow, Aberdeen, Dundee and Edinburgh.

The firm said that as a property tax specialist, he brings a wealth of knowledge of issues affecting the sector and has particular expertise in tailoring tax planning that is efficient for both businesses and their owners.

Henderson Loggie managing partner, David Smith, said: “Kenneth’s role will see Henderson Loggie strengthen its focus and presence in the property and construction market in Scotland. He brings a network of contacts and a strong track record of providing tax and financial management solutions for clients across the range of issues impacting the sector.

“Our sector based approach puts us on a level footing with much larger firms enabling Kenneth and his team to offer a large practice service, which includes in-house VAT specialists, with all the advantages of a small practice feel where clients have ready access to senior experienced advisors.”

Mr McEwen said: “The construction and property sectors are very exciting at the moment and we’ve seen real growth and development recently as we continue to emerge from a difficult period. There have been significant tax changes for private landlords and we’re working with clients to raise awareness of how they’ll be affected and to implement valuable planning. The sector group allows us to pool the expertise and experience we have across the country to further improve the service we can offer to clients.”
