JP Morgan shows commitment to Glasgow as move to Argyle Street base nears
USA banking giant JP Morgan Chase (JPMC) has outlined its long-term commitment to Glasgow as the firm prepares to relocate to its new base in the city centre.
Lori Beer, chief information officer at JPMC, told The Herald in an interview that the new hub plays a crucial role in supporting JPMorgan Chase’s global operations.
Glasgow’s strong “university pipeline” has played a crucial role in the bank’s growth with “incredible” talent to choose from. Ms Beer said: “The reason we keep growing here is that it has been an incredibly successful tech hub for JPMorgan.”
The bank currently has more than 2,200 employees at its two offices, on Waterloo Street and Bothwell Street. When the new 13-floor Argyle Street building is ready in 2023, the firm will move to consolidate its offices to one location. JPMC expects that its headcount will further grow at after it relocates.
Ms Beer added: “The good thing I feel is that, even through that, we have grown our talent here. We have been on a continuous growth [trajectory] and we expect to continue to grow our tech talent. The new building actually gives us even more space to grow our tech talent.”
