A partner from Johnston Carmichael has been appointed to the charities panel of the Institute of Chartered Accountants (ICAS).

Scott Jeffrey, an audit partner based at the firm’s Inverness office, has been appointed onto the sector panel, which is responsible for representing ICAS on matters impacting the UK’s charity sector. It provides guidance to members who work for, advise and assist charities, and charities themselves, offering support on accountancy and related matters.

Mr Jeffrey, who develops and presents Johnston Carmichael’s third sector training and development programme, said: “Having worked with charities for over 15 years, I look forward to sharing my experiences and knowledge, and supporting the panel to deliver advice to others working in the third sector.

“The panel is represented by a broad cross section of professionals, including accountants, lawyers, directors and academics, offering latest guidance and information to charities, trustees, and other ICAS members who work closely with charities.”

The news follows the firm’s recent appointment of Keith MacPherson, who has extensive experience in working with charities and organisations operating in the third sector, as audit director in the Glasgow office.

Mr Jeffrey added: “We at Johnston Carmichael recognise the important work undertaken by individuals and organisations operating within the third sector. We are committed to giving something back through our corporate social responsibility projects, raising money for local and national charities.

“We are honoured to be the professional firm of choice for a large number of charities. I’m passionate about promoting the sector in the Highlands and Johnston Carmichael is dedicated to the sector Scotland-wide.”
