Johnston Carmichael eyes Dundee move
Sandy Manson, chief executive of Scotland’s largest independent accountancy firm, Johnston Carmichael, has spoken out about the his desire to address the “glaring omission” of JC not having a presence in Dundee.
The group has never established itself in the City of Discovery despite having 11 offices across Scotland, including a foothold in the Tayside market of many years standing through its branch offices in Perth and Forfar.
But now Mr Manson has cited current opportunities in Dundee as reason for making the city, historically linked with jute, jam and journalism, an attractive investment proposition for the firm which was established in 1936 but it was only became expansionist in its outlook relatively recently.
He said: “Dundee is a glaring omission in our map of offices and, I have to say, we remain very interested in Dundee as a market.
“With the V&A and the life sciences there is a lot of things to like in Dundee and we remain very open minded to that.
“In my experience it is best not to rush into these things – you have got to get the right route to market – but it is somewhere we would like to be.
“We are in Forfar and Perth and you don’t need to be a rocket scientist to work out that Dundee is on our radar.”
JC has more than 700 staff and annual turnover in excess of £40 million.
