Johnston Carmichael appointed provisional liquidator of energy industry supply chain businesses

Johnston Carmichael restructuring partner Gordon MacLure has been appointed provisional liquidator of oil and gas industry suppliers Claremont Office Interiors (Scotland) Limited and Quayside Fabrications Limited.

Claremont traded from leased premises at Tyseal Base, Craigshaw Crescent, West Tullos, Aberdeen and supplied and installed moveable and fitted office furniture to customers principally in the oil and gas industry.

JC said orders have decreased substantially due to the impact of the depressed oil price on Claremont’s customers’ budgets.

The company had 13 employees, all of whom have unfortunately been made redundant.

Quayside Fabrications traded from leased premises at Colpy, Aberdeenshire, providing specialised structural steelwork and fabrication services, in addition to vessel mobilisation/demobilisation services, to the oil and gas and marine industries.

It has been badly affected by the ongoing lack of larger projects, reductions in the rates offered to fabrication businesses and the costs of trying to maintain vessel mobilisation / demobilisation services during the downturn.

The company had 24 employees, all of whom have also, unfortunately, been made redundant.

MrMacLure said: “The failure of these companies, which had diverse service and product offerings to one another, further demonstrates the negative impact the downturn in the energy sector is continuing to have on businesses right across the north-east economy.

“With no apparent recovery in sight it may be expected that there will be more company failures as we move towards the end of the year.”
