Job cuts at Oasis and Warehouse as Deloitte fails to find buyer
High-street fashion chains Oasis and Warehouse are to close permanently with 1,800 employees set to lose their jobs after administrators Deloitte failed to find a buyer to rescue the firm.
Deloitte was appointed administrators of the retailer in April.
Scottish Financial News reported last month that some of the company’s staff based in its shops, concessions and head office would be placed on furlough Oasis and Warehouse employees would be furloughed under the UK Government’s job retention scheme.
Deloitte said that the two brands and some stock had been sold to restructuring specialist Hilco Capital, yet their online outlets, 92 stores and 400-plus concessions across the UK will close “indefinitely”.
Rob Hardin, joint administrator, said: “It is with great sadness that we have to announce a sale of the business has not been possible and that we are announcing so many redundancies today.”
