Investment roadshows for Dundee Waterfront to take place in Edinburgh and Glasgow
A fresh call for more businesses and entrepreneurs to invest in Dundee Waterfront in advance of the opening of the V&A Museum of Design Dundee will be made next week at investment roadshows in Edinburgh and Glasgow.
Several hundred thousand extra visitors are expected in Dundee each year following the opening of the V&A Museum in 2018.
Dundee’s £1 billion Waterfront project is keen to encourage more developers and investors to take advantage of the business opportunities that are already emerging.
“We will need a wide range of businesses able to provide everything from accommodation and hospitality to retail and leisure services” said Allan Watt, Dundee Waterfront Project Director. “Scotland has many successful, often family-owned businesses operating in the sectors that can service the expansion of the Waterfront, and we would like to encourage more of them to invest in the city.”
In addition to the £80m V&A Museum of Design Dundee, other major investments driving the development of the Waterfront economy include a new railway station with hotel and retail space, the expansion of Dundee Port, and the creation of a new marina. The Scottish Government is also investing £63m of growth funding under the Growth Accelerator Model (GAM).
Committed investment in the Waterfront project has now passed £750m, and includes 5 five flagship private sector investments announced earlier this year, and the opening by the Queen of a new city centre park, Slessor Gardens. Around 156,000 square metres of prime land in the central waterfront is now ‘shovel ready’ and available for mixed use development.
The roadshows are being hosted on Thursday 23rd November by MacRoberts, the commercial law firm. Tickets can be requested at info@dundeewaterfront.com.
