Investing Women founder Jackie Waring shortlisted for UK diversity award
Jackie Waring, CEO of Investing Women, Scotland’s first all-female business angel group, has been shortlisted for a UK accolade in recognition for her role in promoting diversity in equity investment.
A finalist for this year’s UK Business Angels Association (UKBAA) Investment in Diversity Champion award, Ms Waring has been a champion of female business founders in Scotland and beyond since launching Investing Women Angels in 2013.
A huge 90% of Investing Women Angel’s investments have gone into highly innovative companies with female founders. The group’s AccelerateHER programme has also been transformational with a growing network of over 5,000 women business founders within Scotland and beyond.
The UKBAA award recognises a key individual in the UK early-stage investment ecosystem who is taking a ‘leadership role in breaking down barriers to accessing equity investment for company founders from diverse backgrounds, including women, ethnic minorities, and other overlooked groups.
Ms Waring is among seven finalists from across the UK who are ‘acting as a catalyst for change’ in promoting diversity in investment. More details on the Investment in Diversity Champion award category can be found here
The winner of this and other UKBAA Angel Investment Award categories will be announced on 8 June.
Commenting on the shortlisting, Jackie Waring, said: “I’m really excited to be shortlisted for this award. This UK-wide recognition is great news for all those who are part of the Investing Women network as it underlines the great progress we’re making in helping female founders gain access to investment and maximise their business potential.”
