US insurance brokers Lockton has taken up the lease on a new high-end office suite in Aberdeen’s Westhill business district in order to expand its presence in Europe’s oil capital as the company continues to grow its regional footprint.

The new 2,500 square foot office, which will be occupied from next month, represents a significant investment in the north east of Scotland and will accommodate three recently recruited account executives, Steven Cox, Keith Miller and Euan McKenzie, all of whom were hired from Marsh at the end of July.

Four more new hires, account managers Moira Presley, Gillian McGruther, Alison Spink, also all from Marsh, and Gordon Henderson, from AON, will also join the Lockton team in time for the move to the new Westhill premises.

All four will report to Steven Cox, who is also head of office.

Lockton said its new Aberdeen will build on the success of its operations in Glasgow and Edinburgh and complement its growing Global Energy team based in London, which counts a number of Aberdeen-based companies amongst its clients.

Ian Cooper, head of Lockton’s regional business, said: “Our commitment to a new Aberdeen property lease and the recruitment of key staff represent a serious vote of confidence by Lockton in the Aberdeen, Scottish and UK markets at a time which has been marked both by the downturn of the oil sector and by the uncertainties of Brexit.”

Gordon Duncan, head of Lockton’s Corporate business in Scotland, said: “We welcome the impending arrival of our new colleagues and believe that they will readily demonstrate the highly-focused, customer-centric approach to business that is consistent with Lockton’s culture. They will enhance our existing capabilities and deliver further success for our business in Scotland.”
