Mackinnons Solicitors, with offices in Aberdeen, Cults and Aboyne, have announced the appointment of Neil Torrance as a partner to the firm and of Sarah Newnham as an associate.

The business of Iain Smith Solicitors LLP, Queens Road, Aberdeen has been incorporated into the firm of Mackinnons and all seven staff join Mr Torrance and Ms Newnham working in the enlarged firm’s various offices.

The combined firm will continue under the name of Mackinnons.

Mr Torrance joins Mackinnons bringing many years experience in insolvency work and commercial litigation to the existing team.

Mr Torrance said: “I am looking forward to my future as part of the litigation team at Mackinnons, to maintain my current contacts and clients as well as seeking to add value to Mackinnons existing and expanding client base where I can. I am delighted to achieve a move to Mackinnons, a long established and well respected firm which operated under similar core values to those which I have adopted over the years.”

Mackinnons partner Pat Gray added: “2019 will see Mackinnons enter into its 177th year. Our business is in good shape and as we move ahead we have excellent people on board. We are confident our new colleagues share our values. Although now recognised as one of Aberdeen’s oldest and most established firms, we are regarded as one of the most progressive. We are intensely proud of our independence. We are committed to creating and retaining long term personal client relationships and providing high quality specialist advice in niche areas. This will continue to be fundamental to our success and our continued development in the years to come. We see a positive, strong and successful future and look forward to taking the firm to even greater places in the years ahead.”
