ICAS welcomes Royal Bank of Scotland to family of partners

ICAS has announced a new sponsorship arrangement with Royal Bank of Scotland that will see RBS become a partner for the ICAS Practice Community.

The agreement, which ICAS said was part of its “new approach to partnerships” aims to “Bring together key Royal Bank of Scotland staff and Scotland’s Chartered Accountants to help grow the SME sector of our economy” and “Work together to help improve the services that professional bankers and professional accountants give to Scotland’s small and medium sized businesses”.

ICAS chief executive Anton Colella said: “This partnership between Royal Bank of Scotland and the ICAS Practice Community brings our professional bankers and our professional accountants closer together to help our firms, to help the SME sector and to help grow the economy. We believe that a closer relationship between ICAS and Royal Bank of Scotland will help the bank serve our firms better and will, in turn, help our firms serve their clients better.”

Malcolm Buchanan, chairman of the Scotland board for Royal Bank of Scotland, said: “Traditional roles within the banking and financial sectors are changing. Increasingly, accountants are often working as business partners, with advisory services and even societal support seen as core responsibilities alongside duties such as financial reporting. This makes relationships within the industry more important than ever which is why the Royal Bank of Scotland is delighted to enter into this new agreement with ICAS as their Practice Community Partner.

“Working together we can maximise opportunities for ICAS members and continue to enhance Scotland’s reputation as a leader in one of the world’s most important professions.”
