Historic Isle of Skye Flodigarry Hotel up for sale at £3.5m
The Flodigarry Hotel on the Isle of Skye has brought to market by Colliers with offers starting at £3.5 million.
The hotel, located on the 7.1-acre Flodigarry Estate, provides a premier hospitality experience, boasting a distinctive blend of history, success, and prestige.
The estate, originally purchased in 2013 by Paul and Bette Temming, has undergone significant renovations, transforming it into a high-end lodging and dining retreat. Its spectacular setting, coupled with the Temmings’ decade-long investment, has markedly elevated the estate’s asset value and profitability. The husband-and-wife team noted that the hotel’s transformation from a neglected company into a flourishing enterprise has been an “exceptionally rewarding venture”. With their management team now operating the business independently, the couple have decided to pursue other projects.
Mr and Mrs Temming said: “Owning the Flodigarry is so much more than just having a hotel and a highly profitable investment; it is symbol of hospitality, of history, of success, reputation, and prestige in one of the most beautiful places on Earth.”
The Flodigarry Hotel offers 21 luxurious bedrooms scattered across the main hotel, the Garden Lodge, Flora Macdonald’s Cottage, and Dun Flodigarry. Its facilities also include the unique ‘Skye’ restaurant, a conservatory offering stunning views, an atmospheric whisky lounge and piano bar, and the Skye Lounge Bar which overlooks the sea from an open terrace.
The hotel’s charm is not just confined to its modern facilities. It also holds historical significance as it incorporates the home of Flora Macdonald, who famously aided Bonnie Prince Charlie’s escape to the Isle of Skye following the tragedy at Culloden.
Robert Smithson in the hotels agency team at Colliers, commented: “The Flodigarry is one of the most special hotels on Skye, steeped in history and surrounded by breath-taking scenery.
“The refurbishment that has taken place across the entire estate is testament to the respect the current owners have paid to its history and its surroundings. It is the only hotel on the island with a Green Tourism Gold Award.
“This is a rare opportunity to acquire a unique and exceptionally high-quality Scottish hotel which could also be an incredible private estate and we expect significant interest from across the UK and abroad.”
