Scottish independent accountancy firm Henderson Loggie, which employs around 200 people across offices in Aberdeen, Dundee, Edinburgh and Glasgow, has appointed a new director to lead its Internal Audit Team.

David Archibald is returning to the firm where he previously worked for almost 10 years with external audit, internal audit and consultancy clients across the full spectrum of public sector bodies in Scotland.

He took up his new post this week after 5 years in the NHS where he held senior roles in internal audit and programme management.

A graduate of Dundee University, he trained as an accountant in local government.

He worked for North East Fife District Council, Fife Council and Angus Council before moving in to the private sector with Henderson Loggie in 2000.

Mr Archibald said: “I’m delighted to have the opportunity to return to Henderson Loggie at such an exciting time for the firm. I’m looking forward to working with existing clients to meet the significant challenges which lie ahead.

“I’m also keen to develop and grow the firm’s internal audit portfolio, recognising that this is a competitive marketplace, particularly for housing associations and colleges. I’m confident that Henderson Loggie is well placed to support organisations across Scotland to meet their strategic goals, because the need for an internal audit service which is knowledgeable, approachable and robust has never been greater.”

Henderson Loggie chairman, Alan Davis, said: “The internal audit market presents many opportunities for the firm. David’s many valuable skills and attributes combined with his career history brings a depth of experience to an already talented team. We look forward to welcoming him back into the fold. We have exciting plans and I wish him every success in his new role.”

A keen hill walker and coach at Dundee Rugby, David lives in Broughty Ferry with his wife Dawn and their two children.
