Gray & Adams profits climb to £18.6m despite supply chain woes
Fraserburgh-based Gray & Adams, known for its refrigerated trailers, has reported a surge in profits, nearly doubling from £9.4 million to £18.6m in the year ending 26 April 2024.
This marks the firm’s highest pre-tax profits this century, achieved despite a challenging period marked by supply chain disruptions.
The company, which supplies trailers to major supermarkets including Tesco, Sainsbury’s, Asda, Morrisons, and Aldi, saw its sales climb to over £208m, an increase of more than £20m from the previous year.
Joint group managing director James Gray attributed this success to the workforce’s commitment amidst ongoing challenges, including those stemming from the Ukraine conflict.
While supply chain stability has improved slightly, risks remain. Gray & Adams is proactively addressing these by investing in a multi-phase project in Fraserburgh, which includes a new vehicle accident repair centre and the renewal of key plant machinery.
Founded in 1957, Gray & Adams now employs over 750 people across its operations.
