Goldwells appoints Ranald MacDonald to Elgin office
Moray-based accountancy firm Goldwells has expanded its Moray operations with the appointment of Ranald MacDonald.
Mr MacDonald has joined Goldwells Elgin at its Wards Road office in the city centre and will share his time between Goldwells’ Elgin and Buckie branches.
Mr MacDonald will join tax specialist Ewan Edwards and accountancy and payroll experts at Goldwells Elgin.
Fully qualified accountant Mr MacDonald brings with him a host of accountancy experience having worked for large national accountancy firms and latterly for Ritsons in Buckie. He will be supporting clients with tax returns, management accounting, business planning and statutory financial compliance.
Since joining Goldwells at the beginning of January, Mr MacDonald has been supporting companies with their imminent tax returns and providing advice for companies affected by coronavirus, Scottish Business News reports.
Ranald MacDonald said: “It has been a busy start as January means tax returns and so we have been working with clients to get those prepared. At the same time, the extended lockdown and new business support packages available from the Government has led to queries from clients about how they can protect their businesses and be ready when trading improves.
“I am delighted to be joining the team at Goldwells, and to be part of the broader Goldwells network across north Scotland. The clients supported by Goldwells are similar to those I have worked with before, and I am enjoying getting to know them, despite the current restrictions.
“Goldwells has done a fantastic job in supporting businesses across the north during what’s been a turbulent year, and I look forward to working with the interesting mix of clients we have ready to re-build the economy in the north.”
Gary Addison, Goldwells managing director, added: “Ranald is an excellent new appointment for Goldwells. Our Elgin and Buckie offices are doing well and we have a good client base in Moray. The offices work with clients across the region, in a host of different industries from retail to oil and gas.
“It has been a tough year for everyone, and northern Scotland has been hit particularly badly due to a lack of tourism and leisure activities. There have been, and still are, a number of initiatives both from the UK and the Scottish Governments, and we have been supporting business owners to establish exactly what they are eligible for and helping with necessary documentation, which at times has been quite extensive.
“Goldwells now has eight offices across north Scotland and our clients are based across Moray, Aberdeenshire and Inverness and the Highlands. In north Scotland we work with impressive entrepreneurs as well as long-established family businesses, and it has been inspiring to see how business owners and managers have stepped up to make sure their businesses can continue to employ people and provide products and services. There is no doubt, it has been challenging, but our business community is ready to get going again as soon as we can.
“Ranald joins a great team in Elgin, which is well placed to support firms of all sizes to support local companies both now and into the hopefully more prosperous future.”
