Glenfiddich Distillery raises over £150,000 for the people of Ukraine
Glenfiddich Distillery has raised more than £150,000 for the people of Ukraine after auctioning a release of 460 rare bottles.
The distillery partnered with Perth-based Whisky Auctioneer to offer the full 460-bottle allocation of “The Cooper’s Cask” Spirit of Speyside Edition 2022 in an online sale.
Each 70cl bottle of 12-year-old single malt was hand-numbered 1 to 460 and signed by Brian Kinsman, Glenfiddich’s malt master. A total of 809 bidders from around the world placed more than 15,000 bids.
Bottle number one (#1) was the highest value, raising £5,601.
The total £152,153.10 proceeds from the auction will be donated to the Disasters Emergency Committee (DEC) Ukraine Humanitarian Appeal.
Claudia Falcone, Glenfiddich’s global brand director, said: “We are so happy that this year’s Spirit of Speyside exclusive bottling has succeeded in raising such a significant sum of money for such an important cause.
“The Disasters Emergency Committee are doing invaluable work in the region, and we hope this contribution will assist in providing some relief to the families impacted by the conflict.”
In addition to the hammer prices, the total proceeds from the sale include more than £10,000 in buyers’ commissions donated to the DEC Ukraine Humanitarian Appeal.
