Direct flights between Glasgow Airport and the Lithuanian capital of Vilnius will begin this month, low-cost airline Wizz Air has announced.

It is the latest new route announcement for the airport, which is also launching direct flights to Las Vegas, Munich, Prague and Bordeaux over the next three months.

Wizz Air’s year round, twice weekly service to Vilnius will begin on 16 September 2015.

Paul White, business development manager at Glasgow Airport, said: “This is yet further good news from Wizz Air which has gone from strength-to-strength since its arrival at Glasgow Airport two years ago.

“It has continued to respond to demand by adding direct flights to popular European destinations and the new Vilnius service will no doubt prove extremely popular with both Lithuanian and Scottish passengers.”

Wizz Air’s Daniel de Carvalho added: “We have recently announced new services from Glasgow to Budapest and Lublin and today I am thrilled to announce our 7th Glasgow route to Vilnius. With fares starting from only GBP 18.49 we hope to see many passengers on board.”
