Further 15 Bank of Scotland branches to close as Lloyds continues to downsize
Lloyds Banking Group has announced it is shutting down 60 more branches, with 15 of them being Bank of Scotland outlets.
This is part of a larger plan to close 190 branches this year and 47 more in 2025. The bank attributes this to the increasing popularity of digital banking, stating that usage of the affected branches has decreased by an average of 52% over the past five years.
The 15 Bank of Scotland closures include:
- Bathgate – 50 Hopetoun Street.
- Bonnyrigg – 24 High Street.
- Callander – 42 Main Street.
- South Campbeltown – 9 Longrow.
- Cowdenbeath – 349-351 High Street.
- Dunfermline – 1 Bothwell Street.
- Portobello – 153 Portobello High Street.
- Kirkcaldy – Carberry Road.
- Kyle – Main Street.
- Linlithgow – Regent Centre Blackness Road.
- Mallaig – Main Street.
- Newton Stewart – 37 Albert Street.
- North Berwick – 23 Westgate.
- Rothesay – 36-42 Montague Street.
- Wick – 18 Bridge Street.
To mitigate the impact on customers, Lloyds is offering alternative ways to access cash, such as nearby Post Offices and free ATMs. Additionally, 28 community bankers will be introduced to provide support in areas where branches are closing.
