French Duncan payroll worker running London Marathon for mum lost to cancer
French Duncan has paid tribute to payroll worker Jenny Bairner who this Sunday is running the London Marathon to raise funds for Pancreatic Cancer UK after her mum, Fiona, sadly died from the disease last year.
Jenny has already raised over £7,500 so far for the cause and competed in the Glentress Half Marathon in February, the Alloa Half Marathon in March and participated in a Pancreatic training day.
In the UK around 9,800 people are diagnosed with pancreatic cancer each year with just 1 per cent surviving for ten years; 3 per cent for more than five years; and 21 per cent for one year or more.
Jenny is travelling to London with the support of some of her colleagues from French Duncan.
As Jenny explained: “In January 2018 we got the horrendous news that my mum had pancreatic cancer and just 12 days later in Forth Valley Hospital she passed away. I have so much admiration for my mum, she was the strongest, bravest woman I have ever known and will probably ever know.”
“My whole family and my mum’s friends are all heart broken by the sudden loss of such a kind and loving person to this nasty disease. I am trying to raise funds to beat this horrible disease, to stop families going through what we had to go through at the beginning of 2018.”
