Frasers to open in Dundee in May
Frasers Group is continuing its transformation of Overgate Shopping Centre in Dundee at pace as the firm announced the opening of its new 100,000 sq. ft FRASERS concept store is scheduled for May 2025.
A further tranche of new store openings in the centre – including Flannels which is planned to open at the same time as FRASERS – along with a number of significant new lease extensions by existing key tenants, is seeing Frasers Group significantly strengthen the east coast of Scotland’s retail offering.
Promising to bring customers the world’s most aspirational premium, lifestyle and sport brands across fashion, homeware and beauty, FRASERS Overgate will also be home to Sports Direct, USC, Evans Cycle and GAME. Frasers Group bought Overgate, Dundee in March 2023 with the multi-million-pound transformation of the former Debenhams unit within the centre generating significant local and national interest.
Mango, the wildly successful Catalan fashion retailer which recently delivered record-breaking profits amidst a resurgence for its aspirational allure and elevated wardrobe essentials, is confirmed to open in Overgate. Occupying a prime location on the ground floor of the centre, the 4,081 sq. ft store is scheduled to launch in April 2025, with a ten-year lease signed.
Iconic British heritage brand Clarks Shoes – which is celebrating its 200th anniversary in 2025 – is also on track to open a 2,160 sq. ft store within Overgate in April 2025.
Castore, the British premium sportswear brand with a functionality meets form design ethos, and firepower alignments with Sir Andy Murray, elite teams across football, Formula One motor racing, cricket, and rugby has just opened a 1,649 sq. ft store on the upper mall and signed a five-year lease.
Augmenting Overgate’s current food and drink offering, Mooboo Tea - arguably the best Bubble tea in the UK - has just opened its concept store on the upper level, signing a 10-year lease. Also, American bakery chain Cinnabon, famed for its freshly baked products and signature cinnamon rolls with moreish toppings has signed a ten-year lease and upon completion of works is expected to open this spring. This coincides with the relocation of Muffin Break which has expanded into a larger unit on the lower mall beside the well-established Five Guys.
In a further significant vote of confidence in Overgate and the regeneration of the centre by Frasers Group, three key existing tenants: Next, Office and TUI, have each extended their leases. Next has agreed a five-year extension to its current lease, showing confidence and commitment in Overgate and Dundee city centre.
Malcolm Angus, centre manager, Overgate Shopping Centre, commented: “The FRASERS concept store is one of the largest shop fit-outs Dundee has ever seen. Everything, on every level, will be brand new. Once complete, FRASERS will be a remarkable modern department store that will transform Overgate, regenerate the city of Dundee, and strengthen the east coast of Scotland’s retail offering. The plan is for FRASERS and Flannels to open at the same time; the Flannels project alone is significant and will be a game changer in driving footfall to the centre.
“Overgate welcomed around eight million visitors in 2024 and we expect that to rise significantly in 2025. It’s going to be a very busy and exciting first half of the year.”
