Scottish Gas Networks (SGN) has confirmed the appointment of Simon Kilonback as its new chief financial officer.

Mr Kilonback has over 25 years’ experience in senior finance roles, notably in infrastructure and utility businesses. He spent five years as Transport for London’s CFO, during which he was instrumental in transforming the financial health of the company, steering it from a £1.5 billion operating deficit to financial sustainability pre-pandemic.

His finance career includes various positions in the public and private sectors, with tenures at companies such as Lloyds Banking Group, HBOS, WHSmith, Sony, and G.Network.

Most recently, Mr Kilonback has been serving as the CFO of G.Network, a private equity-owned business involved in building a full-fibre broadband network in London. Scheduled to assume his new role at SGN in September this year, he will take over from Mick Carmedy, the outgoing CFO at SGN, who is retiring after 30 years in the utility sector, including six years at SGN.

SGN’s CEO Mark Wild OBE said: “I’m delighted to welcome Simon to SGN and look forward to working together to build a thriving and enduring business. He brings a wealth of experience spanning the public and private sectors.

“I have first-hand experience of working with Simon at TFL and I know he’ll bring passion and commitment to SGN during what is an inspiring, challenging time in the energy sector.

“I’d also like to thank Mick Carmedy for his valued contribution and we wish him well in his retirement.”

Mr Kilonback said: “It is exciting to be joining SGN to help lead the business through the next regulatory cycle and to help shape our role in defining the future of energy in the UK.

“Mark is an inspiring leader with big plans for SGN and I’m thrilled to have the opportunity to work with him again.”
