Former F1 boss denies fraud charge for undeclared £400m
Bernie Ecclestone, former chief executive of Formula One Group, appeared at Westminster Magistrates’ Court on Monday for a brief hearing and entered a not guilty plea for the fraud charge brought against him for over $472 million (c.£401m) in undeclared overseas assets.
The billionaire was charged by the Crown Prosecution Service with fraud by false representation earlier this year for allegedly concealing more than £400m in overseas assets. The charges followed “a complex and worldwide criminal investigation” carried out by HMRC’s Fraud Investigation Service
After Mr Ecclestone entered his not guilty plea, he was granted unconditional bail until his next court appearance, scheduled for September 19th at Southwark Crown Court, TRT World reports.
