Hugh Little, the former head of acquisitions and private equity at Aberdeen Asset Management, has joined a north-east cancer charity to be its new finance director.

Clan Cancer Support said yesterday it had appointed Mr Little to its board as finance director in what is somewhat of a coup for the third sector organisation.

Mr Little enjoyed a 29 year career with AAM and also held directorships with Scottish Enterprise Grampian, the Aberdeen board of the Scottish Council for Development and Industry and Aberdeen Football Club.

He currently sits on the board at Robert Gordon University, Drum Income Reit, TCAM Asset Management Group, Sport Technology Services and Dark Matter Distillers.

Clan’s board consists of 11 members and is chaired by local businessman Kenny Anderson, who said the appointment of such a well-respected figure in the north-east business community was “fantastic”.

Board members share their time with the Aberdeen-based charity and work closely with the management team on a voluntary basis.

Mr Little, who retired from AAM last year, said: “I’m very much looking forward to sitting on the CLAN board and helping to raise awareness of the work the organisation carries out on a daily basis right in the heart of communities throughout the north-east of Scotland, Moray, Orkney and Shetland.”
