Fishers Laundry washes away pandemic losses with £3.8m pre-tax profits
Fife-based commercial laundry firm Fishers has returned to profitability after a four-year gap, posting pre-tax profits of £3.8 million for 2023.
This follows a loss of £608,000 in 2022 and the challenges brought on by the pandemic, which saw the company lose 90% of its trade and temporarily close its Perth facility.
The company’s 2023 turnover reached a record £47.4m, up from £40.8m the previous year. This success is attributed to the recovery of the hospitality industry and increased demand for business and leisure travel.
Despite rising energy costs due to geopolitical events, Fishers has managed to invest in its facilities and workforce. The Perth site reopened in 2022, creating 80 jobs, and the company now employs 689 people across its various locations.
Looking ahead, Fishers anticipates continued growth in 2024 and plans to make significant capital investments to further improve productivity and energy efficiency.
