Finance controller and investment manager join SIS
Third sector funding provider Social Investment Scotland (SIS) has appointed RSM executive Jill Barrow as its new financial controller, and former Dundee United footballer Derek Gardiner in the role of investment manager.
Announcing her appointment, SIS said Ms Barrow will oversee its finance operations through monitoring day-to-day finance and governance and running its Audit & Risk and Capital & Finance Committees.
SIS said she will also be working closely on project work and managing relationships with key external stakeholders.
A qualified Chartered Accountant after doing her traineeship while working at Baker Tilly, and now RSM in Edinburgh, her focus is on internal and external audit for the third sector across Scotland, dealing with big national charities and smaller charitable organisations, groups and academic associations.
She is also an executive committee member and on the Finance Committee for the South East Scotland Scouts and volunteers with Sported as a financial mentor for small community sports groups.
Meanwhile, Mr Gardiner, who has latterly been with Lloyds TSB, will take up the role of investment manager which will see him travelling around the country, and from his Glasgow base will be taking a larger role in supporting social enterprises and charities across the city, Argyll and the West of Scotland, SIS said.
He brings 26 years of commercial and corporate banking experience to SIS with Bank of Scotland and Lloyds TSB.
