EY has appointed two equity Partners in Scotland, bringing the total number of partners at the firm dedicated to the Scottish market to 34.

Cara Heaney and Mike Timmins have both been internally promoted to the role of Partner, demonstrating EY’s commitment to developing its talent in Scotland.

Ms Heaney is a Partner in People Advisory Services and leads the global mobility practice across Scotland and the North of England.

Mr Timmins is a Partner in the Transaction Advisory Services (TAS) team. He is responsible for growing the corporate finance practice in Scotland, working alongside Ally Scott, EY’s head of TAS north of the border.

Last month EY was confirmed as the largest accountancy firm in Scotland by headcount* for the sixth consecutive year. EY employs 1000 people across four offices (Aberdeen, Edinburgh, Glasgow and Inverness) with Cara and Mike’s promotions

Mark Harvey, EY’s Senior Partner, Scotland, said: “Welcoming these new equity Partners to Scotland is testament to the continued investment we are making in our employees to provide our clients with the very best talent. As new Partners, Cara and Mike are the future leaders of EY in Scotland – they have the passion and skills to out-innovate and outperform, with an unwavering commitment to delivering exceptional client service.

“To deliver the very best we need talent with the right diversity, and I am particularly proud that Cara’s appointment brings our proportion of women in our Partnership in Scotland to the highest on record at 32 per cent. This marks a continued focus on increasing our female leadership in Scotland.”

In the last three years, 2015 to 2017 inclusive, EY has welcomed 12 new Partners to its Scotland Partnership, seven of those have been women (58 per cent).

Mark added: “In an increasingly complex and uncertain world, characterised by disruption and unprecedented technological change, having the best people, with a range of diverse experiences and backgrounds, enables us to best respond to the global demands of our clients. This year’s new Partners reflects the depth and breadth of talent we have at EY, and positions us for continued growth in the future.”

Overall, EY has appointed 63 equity Partners to its UK business, including 34 internally promoted Partners and 29 direct entry Partners from its competitors and industry – an increase from 62 new partners in 2016.
