The Your Future initiative, which is supporting 15 young people from low-income backgrounds in Glasgow to develop their employability skills, is designed to help young people who have left school yet are undecided on their career choices, moving them closer to getting the jobs they want and careers they deserve.

As part of the six-month programme, Rowan Lynch (18), Bismah Iftikhar (18) and Connor Blyth (18), each received two weeks of paid employability skills training and interactive workshops, followed by paid work experience at Young Enterprise Scotland.

This Institute of Learning Management accredited programme is also providing extended support through six months of mentoring.

“We partnered with EY Foundation to provide a three-day inspirational enterprise experience, which created skills development opportunities as well as practical ‘learning by doing’ activities. The young people who attended gained greater confidence and knowledge of what career options are available to them.”

“They gave the young people on our programme a meaningful and impactful three days work experience that they really enjoyed as well as insights into different career pathways and choices.

“Combined with the five days employability skills training and two days application bootcamp delivered by EY Foundation, the programme aims to help the young people progress into full-time employment post programme, with the help of a designated volunteer job coach for the next six months.

“Thanks to everyone at YE Scotland for all their support and we hope we can collaborate on future programmes to help even more young people.”
