At a time when all businesses are finding economic conditions as difficult as they have ever been, it is important to remember that this will be temporary. That being the case it is vital to continue to make good decisions which will be for the medium and long term benefit of your organisation.

Today, EQ Accountants LLP have done just that, by promoting 3 of their senior management team to the position of Partner.

Rachel Bell, Scott Greig and Robert Young have each been crucial to the ongoing success of the firm since joining EQ as trainees. They have each shown continued dedication to their professional development and have made significant contributions to the firm and to their clients.

Although they join the existing partners at a time of unforeseen circumstances due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, EQ remains focused on continuing to support their clients throughout the ever-changing landscape in any way they can, with regular updates and advice to help clients get through these difficult times.

Rachel Bell a chartered accountant and chartered tax advisor with extensive technical expertise in corporate taxation, is pivotal to the expert tax advice delivered from the firm’s Dundee office. She is a key member of EQ’s research and development tax team and heads up the transaction tax group, dealing with business restructures, acquisitions and sales.

Robert Young, who has specialist skills and knowledge in agriculture and personal taxation, will complement the four existing partners within the firm’s Forfar office. He is head of the group that deals with private client tax and plays a prominent role in the promotion and execution of the firm’s agricultural services.

Scott Greig will consolidate his agricultural expertise and extensive commercial knowledge within the firm’s growing Cupar office. He has been instrumental in the success of the Cupar office over the last five years, having developed strong relationships with his client portfolio and a network of intermediaries.

The three new partners played their part in another successful year for the EQ Accountants, with turnover increasing to £8m in 2020, continuing the trend of strong levels of growth over the last 5 years.

David Cameron, managing partner, said: “We may not currently be working from our offices, but a great deal of what we do at EQ must continue as near to normal as we can manage. That is critical in terms of supporting our clients, and it’s also important for us as a business. This includes acknowledging the personal development of individuals and ensuring that this is recognised with promotions that are deserved.

“On 1st April we have delivered around 20 promotions within our ranks, across each of our offices – including 3 people making the ultimate step to becoming Partners. This follows 12 terrific months for EQ, when we grew the business by almost 7% - and two incredible weeks when we reacted to circumstances completely out-with our control, in the most professional and adaptable manner.

“Rachel, Scott and Robert have played key roles since joining EQ as trainees, and their successes will continue for many years to come.”
