Global provider of testing, inspection, and certification Element Materials Technology has expanded its presence in Edinburgh with its new European global business services centre (GBS), more than doubling its previous space.

Over 200 colleagues and guests joined yesterday’s launch celebration, led by CEO Jo Wetz and CFO Ruth Prior.

At nearly 16,000 sq ft, more than double the size of Element’s previous office in Newbridge, the expanded facility creates more capacity for customer and colleague support across Europe, with the office comfortably accommodating the 220-strong workforce. Teams housed in the centre include human resources, digital technology, cyber security, commercial, legal, and finance.

The office, located in the 1 New Park Square building in Edinburgh Park, contains state-of-the-art facilities including collaboration space, huddle rooms, an open-concept layout with hot desks, and abundant natural light. Colleagues also have access to health and wellbeing facilities, convenient parking, and an excellent transport infrastructure with direct access to the M8 and wider motorway network, and an on-site tram stop connecting to rail and air links.

Matt Hopkinson, EVP EMEAA at Element, said: “I’d like to thank everyone for coming out to celebrate the opening of the new office yesterday.

“The expanded capacity we now have in Edinburgh is critical to support our future European business growth and serving our customers across the region.”

Sheena Cantley, director of global business services, Europe, said: “This investment builds on Element’s long-standing history in Scotland and ensures we continue to attract the very best talent to support our business.

“I am very proud of my colleagues who work here – they provide truly outstanding support to our Laboratories across Europe.”
