Glasgow-based accountancy firm Wylie & Bisset have been announced as finalists in two categories in this year’s Scottish Accountancy and Finance Awards.

The awards, which will take place on June 14th in Glasgow, seek to recognise the skills and achievements of accountants and finance experts in both the private and public sectors.

Having just missed out on “Accountancy Firm of the Year” in 2017 the firm has once again been nominated as finalist in that category as well as being nominated as finalist in the “Tax Team of the Year” category. This double nomination is reflection of the continued efforts made by the whole business in terms of training and support of staff, client service and sector growth.

Investing in people has been a large part of the firm’s continued success and key appointments have become embedded in the business generating continued growth across all disciplines.

Organic firm wide growth continued in 2017 across all service lines. Key to the tax team’s nomination was spotlighting how it contributed to firm wide business as it had never done before. Provision of specialist tax services such as capital allowances advice, Research & Development reviews alongside bespoke corporate and personal tax planning have all played a part in enhancing the tax team’s profile within the business and the wider accountancy market.

Catherine McManus, tax partner at W&B, said: “I am delighted that our tax team have been nominated as finalists for “Tax Team of the Year” alongside the business as a whole for “Accountancy Firm of the Year”. To have our tax team recognised in this way is a great achievement for all concerned. Their focus and drive alongside core tax knowledge and experience have all been factors in driving growth to that part of the business. It is great to see their hard work being recognised in this way.”

Ross MacLauchlan, joint managing partner, said: “Our 2017 financial year was another great year for the firm. Cultivating new opportunities across the whole firm has become key to how we approach our business. Our continued focus on client service and delivery sees us working with clients and other advisors more closely than we ever have before. I believe this ethos of “excellent client service” will serve us well as we face new challenges on how the accountant is defined in the future. We are delighted to be nominated as finalists in two very strong categories and we look forward to celebrating the profession as a whole at the upcoming awards.”
