Deloitte reinstates in-person recruitment amid cheating concerns
Deloitte has decided to reintroduce in-person interviews for its UK graduate scheme, responding to concerns from the Financial Reporting Council (FRC) over online cheating.
The Big Four firm will return to face-to-face interviews from September for graduate and apprenticeship programmes.
This change follows the FRC’s annual review of Deloitte’s audit quality, which noted risks in the firm’s fully online recruitment process. In contrast, the FRC commended other Big Four firms for taking steps to reduce cheating risks in online recruitment, which already conduct interviews and assessments in person.
The FRC has consistently raised concerns about cheating in recruitment tests, stating it undermines the integrity of the profession. In July, it reported continued instances of cheating, deeming it “unacceptable” but declining to specify at which firms, Financial Times reports.
Deloitte stated it would return to in-person final stage interviews for graduate and apprenticeship programmes across all business areas, however, “the initial stages of the application process will remain virtual”.
