Owners Steve and Alison Timoney have announced plans to add a new 40-bedroom hotel, a destination restaurant, two eco-friendly lodges, and a lavish spa. The entrepreneur and philanthropist couple, who describe Crossbasket Castle as a no-expense-spared passion project, said the hotel will leave their guests in awe.

Computer-generated images of the plans show a luxurious bedroom and ensuite that will overlook the wooded landscape and grounds of Crossbasket Castle. Images also reveal the stunning destination restaurant, which aims to seat 100 covers, along with a bar, snug areas, and stage for guests to enjoy incredible live music and entertainment seven nights a week.

Alison said: “It’s tremendously exciting to reveal a first glimpse of our hotel and restaurant that we couldn’t be more excited to open next year. Attention to detail and personalised customer service are the hallmarks of Crossbasket.

“The interiors will be lavish but welcoming and luxury will be found in the materials, as well as bespoke, upholstered furniture in classic styles with plenty of cosy corners for private, more intimate moments with friends and loved ones.”

Steve added: “To say this has been a passion project is an understatement. It has been a remarkable process that has called for dedication and in terms of furnishing and design, extraordinary craftsmanship.”

A luxury spa will house four treatment rooms, heat experiences, relaxation areas, outdoor hydrotherapy pools, and its own designed Scottish-based product line.

Once complete, the venue will have capacity for an additional 35,000 visitors each year and provide over 50 jobs for the local area, delivering a projected economic boost to the South Lanarkshire economy of £5m per annum.

Graeme Green, managing director of Crossbasket Castle, believes the hotel has the capacity to draw people in from across the world, establishing the region as a leading tourism destination.

He said: “Alison and Steve’s vision is something very special. I have worked in the hotel sector for 25 years and managed some of the world’s most exclusive establishments, but Crossbasket Castle is one that really excites me.

“The standards of the owners have led to something truly exceptional and unique. It gives a stylish nod to the 1920s and plays on some of the key features of the exquisite and tranquil landscape in a way that will really capture people’s imagination.

“The whole project is moving forward at pace, and we are very excited about opening our doors next year.”

Steve and Alison spent five years and over £10m sensitively restoring Crossbasket Castle which had fallen into a state of disrepair back to its resplendent glory.

Managed by Inverlochy Castle Management International (ICMI), the 16th century building has attracted numerous accolades including Best Newcomer at the Condé Nast Johansens Annual Awards for Excellence and Castle Hotel of the Year at the Scottish Hotel Awards since opening in 2015. Earlier this year, the hotel also received a Five Red Star Inspectors Choice grading from AA, one of only 10 hotels in Scotland to achieve this.

ICMI operates 12 other independent properties around Scotland, including Inverlochy Castle, near Fort William, Greywalls Hotel in Gullane and The Isle of Eriska Hotel.
