Cleartech Group has acquired Wigan-based ECB (Water Solutions) Limited, advised by Consilium Chartered Accountants who provided lead advisory and tax due diligence services.

The deal – Cleartech’s first acquisition outside of Scotland – significantly strengthens their geographical reach and compliments their existing HVAC commissioning, water treatment and Legionella compliance services in England. ECB is a leading provider of Legionella control services to industrial and commercial outlets in the Greater Manchester and Lancashire regions.

Jim McGuigan, CEO of Cleartech, said: “This significantly expands our geographical footprint across the UK, strengthening our presence in the North of England and beyond.

“We look forward to delivering more projects across key regions, including Glasgow, Manchester, Liverpool and Leeds, while further enhancing our operations in Newcastle.”

Continuing a long-standing relationship between Consilium Chartered Accountants and Cleartech, Mr McGuigan retained the services of advisors corporate finance partner John Blair and tax partner Craig Coyle.

Discussing the deal, Mr Blair said: “We’re proud to have supported Jim and the whole Cleartech Group for many years and in that time, watched the business go from strength to strength.

“This acquisition is the next step in that process, and everyone at Consilium is excited to see what the expanded Cleartech Group will achieve.”

Mr McGuigan said: “Consilium have been our trusted advisors for over 10 years, their support and partnering on this deal has been excellent, offering real clarity and vision whilst guiding us smoothly through the process.”

“A special thanks to John Blair and Craig Coyle and their teams, who will continue to work alongside the Cleartech management team through the integration phase.”

Following the acquisition, Cleartech now supports clients from multiple locations in the UK across Scotland, the north-east of England, the north-west of England and London.
