These include a £5.8m digital contract with Glasgow City Council that is central to its ambitions to become a world-class Smart City, as well as an extension worth more than £7m to its current contract with City of Edinburgh Council as part of its continuing digital enablement programme.

Also included are new contracts involving venture capital firm Par Equity LLP and fish processing company Pelagia, plus new business with oil and gas giant Shell, legal firm Burness Paull LLP, dental supply company Wright Cottrell, global IT and business consulting services firm CGI, Arnold Clark, and the Royal Botanic Garden Edinburgh.

Chief commercial officer Charles Quinn said the success showed how organisations throughout the UK across both the public and private sector now trust Commsworld above other network providers to deliver a quality service thanks to its outstanding track record of success.

He said: “We are delighted to record such excellent business growth in the final quarter of last year. It shows that now more than ever good businesses need high performance, robust and resilient connectivity so they can emerge from COVID-19 in a strong position. It also shows that more and more customers are gaining significant benefits from the new UK-wide network that Commsworld has built.”

The figures come during a transformative time for Commsworld. Steve Langmead has taken over as Chief Executive from Ricky Nicol, who is now Founder and Vice-Chairman of the company he founded.

Meanwhile, Commsworld completed in record time the build of its full-fibre internet connectivity to rural towns and villages in Renfrewshire as part of the new infrastructure being delivered through the £15m ‘Connectivity as a Service’ framework contract signed with Renfrewshire Council in the middle of last year.

Mr Quinn added: “Already we are enjoying an excellent start to 2021. There are plenty of new markets for us to explore that can benefit from our safe, super-fast and secure digital technology.

“We hope in particular to support public sector organisations as they look to transform their old networks to cope with the demands from the ‘new normal’ we have seen during this current lockdown, from providing education online to accessing fast, efficient services digitally.”
