Clydesdale appoints new chief risk officer
CYBG, the banking group that comprises Glasgow-based Clydesdale Bank and Yorkshire bank, has announced the appointment of Mark Thundercliffe as its new chief risk officer.
Based in Yorkshire, Mr Thundercliffe, who joins from HSBC, will take his place in CYBG’s leadership team and will report to chief executive David Duffy.
At HSBC he was chief risk officer responsible for management and oversight of risk for the banking giant’s retail banking and wealth management businesses across Europe.
He has also held a number of senior international positions including president and CEO (Asia) with home credit in Hong Kong and he was also an executive director and business head (Russia) with Renaissance Capital in Moscow.
Prior to HSBC he was chief risk officer (UK & Ireland) at Citi before progressing to become business head of Citi (Russia).
Prior to working in Russia, Mr Thundercliffe was executive and business head, based in India.

The appointment is subject to regulatory approval.
