Special guests Lord Provost, councillor Barney Crockett, and ex-Scotland international footballer Gordon Strachan officially opened the building with a ribbon-cutting ceremony, with attendees able to enjoy a tour of the centre, followed by a taste-testing of some of the local delicacies.

The centre has the potential to provide almost 50,000 sq ft of flexible and affordable fully serviced office space, with the capacity to house over 2000 SMEs, entrepreneurs, start-ups and larger corporates.

The centre has already enjoyed strong early interest from a variety of local businesses in the area, in sectors such as oil and gas, technology and training.

Steve Jude, Citibase CEO, said: “Our most recent Citibase Business Confidence Index revealed that 71% of Scottish SMEs prefer office contract lengths of less than three years, which is clear evidence that the flexible office revolution is gaining serious momentum in Scotland. Citibase is committed to providing Scottish SMEs with one of the best flexible office hubs in the city as demand continues to soar as businesses both large and small increasingly turn to our low-risk, short-term contracts.”

The centre’s launch is reflective of Scotland’s increased demand for flexible office space where businesses are growing or downsizing depending on their respective needs.

The latest Citibase Business Confidence Index shows that Scottish SMEs are increasingly feeling the impacts of political uncertainty, making agility evermore important for growing businesses.

Citibase Aberdeen Hill of Rubislaw is situated on the 2nd floor, H1, Hill of Rubislaw, Anderson Drive, Aberdeen AB15 6BL.
