Chiene + Tait trainee wins Johnson Medal for outstanding exam results

A burgeoning trainee tax advisor and member of Chiene + Tait’s award-winning Entrepreneurial Tax team has been awarded the Johnson Medal for achieving outstanding results in her qualification exams.

Sarah Moffat is currently on the Tax Pathway, a route to membership of both the Association of Taxation Technicians (ATT) and the Chartered Institute of Taxation (CTA).

She picked up the accolade for achieving the best overall results in her two latest examinations, on professional ethics and law.

Sarah, who is aiming to be fully qualified by 2020, is planning to continue her focus in entrepreneurial tax, advising clients on share schemes, SEIS and EIS tax relief and R&D tax credits.

She said: “While it was a total surprise, I was absolutely delighted to be awarded the Johnson Medal. It’s a challenge managing my studies with client work, but the firm has been very supportive. Gaining practical experience on live client projects has given me the opportunity to build knowledge and confidence which can be applied in my exams.”

Neil Norman, the head of Chiene + Tait’s Entrepreneurial Tax Team, said: “We’re very pleased for Sarah but not too surprised: these excellent results follow the 90 per cent mark she achieved in an EIS Diploma exam this Spring.

“She has been a valued member since joining our team, contributing to our Tax Team of the Year win at June’s Scottish Accountancy and Finance Awards. We look forward to continuing to support her as she develops her career.”
