Hugh Wallace

Mr Wallace, a board member since January 2023, has taken the reins from interim chair Kevin O’Brien, who had served in the post since April 2024.

CFG helps charities to develop their financial management knowledge and skills, working with more than 1,450 UK charities collectively managing £22 billion of funds.

Outside of CFG, Mr Wallace is the chief information officer at Research Data Scotland, a charity focused on enabling access to public sector data about people, places and businesses.

Prior to this he has worked for the Scottish Government, as well as charities such as Oxfam and National Museums Scotland.

Commenting on his appointment, Mr Wallace said: “I am greatly honoured to be appointed as CFG’s new Chair of the Board of Trustees. It is a pleasure to be part of such a dynamic organisation and one that plays a hugely important role in supporting all charitable organisations in the UK.

“Our sector continues to face challenging times, but I am really excited about the organisation’s plans for the future and how we will evolve in the next few years.”

He continued: “My role on the Board has shown me first-hand what a superb group of people CFG has, from passionate and supportive trustees to an incredible, expert team of staff.

“It will be a great privilege to work with the leadership team, and everyone within the organisation, to help CFG achieve its goals and continue to support the sector as a whole.”

Caron Bradshaw OBE, CEO of CFG, added: “I’m excited to work with Hugh. He’s a brilliant choice by the Board, particularly at this time of change for CFG.

“Beyond the governance duties, which Hugh’s contributions over the last two years demonstrate he is more than equipped for, his knowledge and experience operationally will be a great source of guidance for me and the wider team. The fact that Hugh is based in Scotland – a growing community for CFG – is the icing on the cake!
