Central Investment backs Scotland’s top junior female cyclist with sponsorship

Aberdeen-based independent financial advisers Central Investment has announced its sponsorship of Georgia Mansfield, Scotland’s fastest junior female cyclist.

As part of a three year deal, the company has offered its support by donating a bespoke track bike which will allow Georgia to compete in key races and fulfil her dream of becoming a professional cyclist.

Georgia started cycling with local groups at the age of 14 and her intense training regime led to success in 2014, when she raced in the Scottish Cycling Youth category. To date, she holds the Junior Scottish record for 25 miles and 50 miles, and Junior Scottish North records for 10 and 50 miles.

Derek Robertson, managing director of Central Investment, said: “As a firm which is deeply rooted in Aberdeen, having been based in the city for more than 40 years, we have been long-time supporters of giving back to charities and individuals in the area. Our team jumped at the chance to support such a talented athlete, with such promising future prospects.

“Georgia has had a very exciting and successful career so far and we look forward to seeing the Central Investment branding - featured on her team racing kit - come to life as she races for gold.”

Most recently, Georgia was accepted into the Scottish Cycling development programme, and she recommenced road racing in Scotland and Belgium in mid-March.

Harbouring ambitions to represent her country at both Olympics and Commonwealth Games in the future, Georgia said: “I am delighted with this gesture from Central Investment, sponsorship is essential for me to continue training at the level required, and I genuinely couldn’t do what I love without it.

“There is definitely a great deal of strategic planning required for race season, you need the correct training, good focus, good nutrition and the right equipment. The key is to ensure peak performance for targeted races, and this coming season is set to be exciting, albeit challenging. I look forward to continued success and development.”
